Every tree needs a tent right next to it — directly above, below, left or right — and every tent belongs to exactly one tree.
Tents are friendly but private: no two tents may touch, not even at a corner. The numbers along the edge say how many tents are in that row or column.
Mark grass on squares that cannot hold a tent: a square touching no tree, the squares around a tent, and the rest of any row or column that has all its tents.
Pitch a tent beside every tree — one each — so no two tents touch and every row and column has its count.

No — a tent must be directly above, below, left or right of its tree.
No. Each tree has its own tent, so the number of tents always equals the number of trees.
Some row or column numbers are left out. The puzzle still has exactly one answer, but you have to work harder for it.
Open the Tents Solver, plant the trees, type the counts and press Solve.
