Sum Circles Solver: rules, how to use it, tips

Place 1 to 9 once each so every circle equals the total of the four squares around it.

The rules

  1. Each number from 1 to 9 is used exactly once (1 to 16 in the 4×4 version).
  2. A circle sits where four squares meet and shows their total.
  3. In the colour version, the squares of each colour add up to that colour’s total.
  4. Given numbers can’t be changed.

Using the solver

  1. Choose the version, type each circle total (and colour total) and any given numbers — or press Sample.
  2. Press Solve and step through: the ways each circle can be made, the only digit or only place left, and what-ifs.
