How to play Tetro Shade

Every region of the grid holds one piece of four shaded squares joined side to side โ€” a tetromino. Square 2ร—2 pieces are not allowed, so each piece is an L, an I, a T or an S (rotations and mirror images count as the same shape).

All the shaded squares together must form one connected group, no 2ร—2 block may be completely shaded anywhere, and two pieces of the same shape may not touch along a side across a region border.

Start with small regions โ€” a four-square region is its own piece โ€” and look for squares every possible piece must use.

How to play Tetro Shade

Shade one piece of four connected squares (an L, I, T or S) in every region so that everything joins up, with no 2ร—2 blocks and no matching shapes touching.

The rules

  1. Every region contains exactly four shaded squares, joined side to side โ€” a tetromino.
  2. All shaded squares in the grid form a single connected group.
  3. No 2ร—2 block of squares is completely shaded.
  4. Two pieces of the same shape (counting rotations and reflections) may not touch along a side.

Playing here

  1. Choose a size and a difficulty, then press New Puzzle.
  2. Tap a square to shade it, again for a dot (white), again to clear. Drag to do several.
  3. Finished pieces are coloured by shape โ€” L, I, T or S โ€” so matching pieces that touch stand out in red.
  4. Hint explains the next deduction โ€” pieces that only fit one way, 2ร—2 blocks, matching shapes and keeping everything joined.

How do I solve one from a book?

Open the Tetro Shade Solver, draw the regions and press Solve.
